Description:
This is one of Henry Purcell's anthems, written for the funeral of Queen Mary II in 1695. It was performed in December last year in the church of the Holy Sepulchre, Warsaw, Poland at a concert in aid of the Halemba Tragedy, by the Fundacja Nowa Orkiestra Kameralna Choir ( http://www.fnok.pl ) and conducted by Richard Bylicki Berkeley. |

usenetposts ::: Favorites Many thanks. I'm a Polish resident and a Polish taxpayer, but other than that I'm British. But I also have a theory (which might make a good video actually - hey I think you've given me Huliganov's monthly rant for September) that learning any language actually makes you a part of that nation, in a sense. 07-08-26 08:01:27 _____________________________________________________

usenetposts ::: Favorites They will be happy to read that. Richard Berkeley does a great job over their accents - he also gives voice training to actors. 07-06-08 05:54:50 _____________________________________________________
jmontgomery7577 ::: Favorites I'm not sure that was completely true in any century. Three of the founders of Anglican choral tradition (Byrd, Tallis and Tomkins) were Catholic. Heinrich Schuetz studied with the Gabrielis in Venice. Bach wrote many of his Masses to be used in both Catholic and Lutheran services. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. 07-06-08 02:48:25 _____________________________________________________
jmontgomery7577 ::: Favorites I don't know how widely English is spoken in Poland, but their pronunciation is perfect. I could understand every word. This is a very sensitive and beautiful performance. 07-06-08 02:41:01 _____________________________________________________
