(Comment 1 of 3) The original motion picture soundtrack recording of AMADEUS was released on two CDs and no material from The Magic Flute was included. A third CD was later released titled MORE MUSIC FROM THE FILM AMADEUS which included DER HÖLLE RACHE KOCHT performed in German by Louisa Kennedy (not June Anderson--whose voice can be heard in the film).

(Comment 2 of 3) In 2002, the soundtrack was re-released (gold CD & remastered) on two discs which contain ALL the material from the three aforementioned CDs. You can buy this at Amazon (ASIN: B00005Y1SV). The movie (yeah, yeah, w/its arias in English at all) and the soundtrack have introduced many people to the world of classical music. Both the film and its soundtrack have been very beneficial to the classical music recording industry which certainly NEEDS customers.

(Comment 3 of 3) Trivia: When the soundtrack was released in the mid-80s, it was the FIRST TIME in the history of recorded music that an authentic classical album made the pop charts in Spain, England, Australia, Sweden, France, Italy, Argentina, Finland, and the United States in the company of popular performers such as Prince, Michael Jackson, and Cyndi Lauper.

It's a bit like Shakespeare isn't it currymuttonpizza; people get so afraid of it, but when they see a good performance and see the hilarious and sometimes extremely rude hints and allegations (sorry; stole that from Call Me Al)and innuendos acted out, it all comes to life in a very modern way.

....LMAO. Thanks for the laugh. Go watch a comic opera, and then try to say that again. Mozart in particular was a master of comedy - I'd suggest the Marriage of Figaro for that, it's filled with slapstick. Also, he wrote a canon called "Leck mich im Arsch" which translates to "Lick my Ass." Classical music is NOT always serious, and Mozart is a perfect example. People should never be intimidated by classical music, it can be just as fun as anything else.

I reckon there's room for all sorts of music from Stravinski to Guns and Roses; I like all good music; and there are some classical pieces that are meant to be extremely funny and there are some rock numbers that have a very serious meaning; and vice versa of course. I think all good music is good, no matter what the genre and the greater variety the better.

Some music like Greenday is meant for social gatherings.... Maybe you should understand that classical music is serious and being serious ALL the time isn't good.
