Description:

Nice plot, bad gameplay. That jump kick in the 1st part is just embarrassing with how bad the hit detection failed. I mean it's the first enemy in the game for crying out loud.

Havnt ever played this game (or the other golgo 13 game either). But i really like the comicbook that its based on. Its very well written so it doesnt suprise me that the game is to.

But again, your video runs at a much lower framerate than the actual NES, so your frame references only very roughly approximate the actual required timing accuracy.

Oh no, it's quite similar. Your foot is only a weapon during the extension action of the kick. It doesn't remain some sort of crazy energy weapon once it is extended. After the extension of the kick, the foot contact ceases to inflict damage. It's the same in Double Dragon. After the punch action is completed, the hand ceases to inflict damage. You just completed your kick early.

oh I just reread this comment, you walk through someone, not punch through them. That's completely different than what happened in golgo 13 where my attack went right through them because I inputted it according to you a couple of frames off, not because the hit detection is bad.

Reaction time is different from timing a move correctly. I played king of fighters 2002 and the controls are really bad, the moves wouldn't register when I input them correctly. With golgo 13, I input the jump kick correctly because the animation showed but it did not hit the enemy when his foot made contact.

which is what I was arguing about, I was 2-3 frames off and it doesn't register; there's no excuse. Anyway I was throwing punches in double dragon 2 anywhere close to the person (even when the whole arm extends past them) and it registers. And about that comment, I referred to, it sounds like you insulted my intelligence. Hence the truth table reference where you could taunt someone who thinks or implies exclusivity. Well at least I seem to be wrong on that aspect.

You're right. The second jump kick doesn't register because you kicked too early. You clearly touched the guy, but you had already executed your attack so it quite reasonably did not register. The attack had already been spent. If I'm playing Double Dragon II and I walk through someone, my player's fists come in contact with the enemy, but no hit is registered because I am not in the process of executing an attack.

I'm not sure where I tried to insult you. I was just pointing out a frame of reference to help refresh your memory. I just happened to remember where it is discussed in the New York State public school system.

at 1:04, I hit the guy in his head shortly after using the 2nd jump kick and it doesn't register. You can clearly see that I made contact with him. I cannot explain this any further as being a hit detection issue. That's your basic example. If you can view it in slow motion/frame by frame somehow, you can obviously see that.
